Wind turbine charge controller for 12V, 24V and 48V off-grid systems

A wind turbine without a controller is an unprotected turbine. This regulator sits between your generator and your battery bank, converts the three-phase AC output to a controlled DC charge, and brakes the rotor automatically when the batteries are full or the wind gets too strong. Four versions are available so you can match the controller to the turbine you already own: PWM, MPPT boost, advanced three-phase PWM and a wind + solar hybrid unit.

Which version should you choose?

Version Best for Key behaviour
PWM Controller Small 12V/24V turbines up to ~600W Simple auto-detect charging with dump-load braking
MPPT Controller Low-wind sites, 12V/24V Boost charging starts at lower rotor speed, more usable kWh
Advanced Controller 12V/24V/48V turbines Three-phase soft braking, gentler on the generator
Wind Solar Hybrid Wind + PV on one battery bank Single regulator for both sources, LED display, full protection set

Wiring in plain terms

Three blue wires go to the three turbine phases (order does not matter). The red wire goes to battery positive, the black wire to battery negative. Always connect the battery before the turbine: the battery is what gives the controller a reference voltage and keeps the rotor braked during installation.

Sizing guidance, honestly

Pick a controller rated at or above your turbine's peak output, not its nominal rating. A 600W turbine in a gust can push well past 600W, and a controller running at its limit is the part that fails first. If you also have solar panels, the hybrid version is usually cheaper and simpler than two separate regulators sharing one battery bank.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this controller with a solar panel too?

Only the Wind Solar Hybrid version accepts PV input. The PWM, MPPT and Advanced versions are wind-only.

Does it work with a lithium battery bank?

It is designed around lead-acid and AGM charge voltages. With lithium, use a BMS-managed bank and verify the cut-off voltages match your cells before commissioning.

What happens when the batteries are full?

The controller diverts the turbine output to the dump load and, if the wind keeps rising, applies the electromagnetic brake so the rotor does not overspeed.

Is the unit waterproof?

The hybrid version uses a sealed aluminium housing rated for outdoor mounting. The compact PWM and MPPT units should be installed in a sheltered enclosure.

Do you provide installation support?

No. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician following local wiring regulations.

How long does delivery take?

Five to fifteen business days, worldwide.
